The Little Fiddle’s conceptual foundation is the mythical tale of Mr Arthur Shand’s journey through Australasia in 1908. This narrative is rich with humour and larger-than-life historical texture and provided the perfect brief to create a space rich in Irish cultural references and fun.

The Little Fiddle is all about Irish culture, live music, outstanding fare and pure entertainment. The Creative Group were engaged at the early stages of the project’s conception and worked with the client and other creative consultants to help develop a conceptually and visually rich environment .

The project was technically very challenging as the site is one of the most complex tenancies on ‘The Terrace’ due to the differing floor levels throughout. The Creative Group had to maximise every mm of space to achieve the clients brief. Due to our experience with the building code we were able to design a space that maximised occupancy, having the bathrooms on the first floor and increasing the footprint by the inclusion of a covered courtyard which can be utilised in all weather conditions. The Little Fiddle houses a 7m bar displaying tap beers and an extensive whiskey and spirit display and allowing maximum serviceability. The exterior courtyard has a smaller bar which adds to the client revenue stream and allows for private functions, keeping the main bar open to the public. The main kitchen provides a la carte service with a smaller rotisserie kitchen offering which also opens out to the terraces laneways and provides a takeaway offering through to the early hours of the morning. The joinery and ceilings have been designed to house LED lighting giving depth and illumination to the bric-a-brac which assists with the ambience and old Irish concept.
